Human Givens therapy is fast, effective and long-lasting. Research shows that more than 3 in 4 clients were either symptom free or significantly recovered in an average of only 3.6 sessions.* Most people I see see significant progress in 4-6 sessions although some people require only one or two sessions to achieves their required results. Some people with more complex difficulties may require more.
The Well-Minded Practice fees reflect these effective and sustainable outcomes. Human Givens therapy is not designed to be long term or to have clients sign up for multiple sessions. Our intention is to work with our clients to achieve the outcomes they want in as short a time-frame as possible – and for them to move on, fully equipped for their next life chapter. If a client is not progressing we will endeavour to find an alternative and more suitable therapist and/or therapeutic approach.
We do not charge in advance for a set number of consultations, or a course of treatment.
*Research published in: Psychology and Psychotherapy: Theory, Research & Practice
We use various measures to gauge each client’s progress and response to treatment. If clients are happy to do so they may be asked to complete a brief anonymised questionnaire, which is designed to help the therapist understand the client’s needs, how best to help them, and to evaluate treatments and outcomes.

Notes: a) The session fee is subject to revision from time to time. Advance notice will be given of any increase. b) Human Givens therapists aim to meet the needs of their clients in as few sessions as possible and do not charge in advance for a course of treatment. c) any extra work undertaken on the client’s behalf, such as writing reports or letters for other agencies will be charged at the standard hourly rate.
Psychotherapy: these sessions are booked individually and are held in person or online. The intention is always to achieve recovery in as few sessions as possible.
The Sleep Clinic: these sessions are booked individually and are held in person or online. The intention is always to achieve recovery in as few sessions as possible.
Coaching: these sessions are usually held on the Phone but can be arranged online or in person if required. They can be single appointments or, for those looking at career development or ongoing high performance, a model of an initial hour appointment and then 1 x 30-minute phone coaching session per fortnight is often beneficial. Please contact us to discuss this option if required.
We never require a client to enter into a contract for a certain number of sessions. Our psychotherapy and sleep sessions are only ever booked in single sessions – and with a view to helping you in as few sessions as possible.
If it is convenient for the client, payment online may be made in advance or on the day of consultation otherwise we accept cash. An invoice will be sent via email in advance. If payment is not made by the end of the day of the consultation an administration fee of £15 will be charged.
Some clients have coverage from a healthcare insurer. We are unable to communicate directly with insurers, and we do not have an electronic claims system in place. It is the client’s responsibility to ascertain whether or not their insurance provider covers psychological talking therapies, to pay their fees at the time of consultation, and to then claim from their insurer, where possible. We will do our utmost to facilitate that claim.
Since scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time specifically for your provision, a minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for rescheduling or cancelling client appointments. Unless we reach a different agreement, the full fee will be charged for sessions missed without such notification.
In the event of a serious accident, emergency, or other similar situation outside the client’s control, please deal with your situation first and notify us at the earliest convenient time, or we will follow up with you typically within 24 to 48 hours of the missed appointment.
Where an appointment is arranged and agreed, and a client does not attend that appointment, the consultation fee will be payable in full, together with the administration fee of £15.
It is recognised that some clients may be particularly vulnerable, especially young people. We reserve the right to record consultations, if deemed appropriate, for the protection of both client and therapist. We will discuss this with you first.
